SAN CARLOS CITY. The famous mango -bamboo festival of this city will have Mayor Julier Resuello himself as executive chairman. Last year it was his younger brother Vice Mayor Joseres who was executive chairman, wherein the World Record Academy cited the city’s first attempt to produce the world’s largest mango pie. The executive and legislative branches of the city government are joined by heads of agencies/departments, and NGOs in planning the activities of the week-long festival.
This year’s fiesta begins on April 23 with a Thanksgiving Mass at 7:30 A.M. (St Dominic Parish), to be followed at 8:00 A.M. by the festive and colourful parade along the main streets of the city.
After the parade comes the opening program at the Arenas – Resuello Sports Complex. The Farmers and Homemakers Day wherein the Trade Fair and Food Festival are a feature, includes Kubo-making contest this year. At 8:00 P.M., experience the gaiety of the comedy show in the Gabi ng mga Kabataan.
April 24, at 8:00 A.M. will be a Medical – Dental mission and Operation Tuli, a project of balikbayans who will be assisted by the City Health Office. At 8:00 P.M. is the Liga ng mga Barangay Night, all 86 barangays manifesting their unity that makes the whole city a model one. Venue of the medical mission and the Liga Night is the Arenas-Resuello Sports Complex.
April 24 is also the first of the 3-day car and motorcycle show (April 24-26) which begins at 8:00 A.M. The exhibit is at the Federico Mandapat Sports Dome located at Dona Eva Macapagal Elementary School. Early morning at 5:00 A.M. on April 25 is a Fun Run “Takbo Para Sa Puso” which is a sports that is actually good not just for the heart but for the human body as a whole. The run is along the main city streets. And at 8:00 P.M. is the Balikbayan Night at the Arenas-Resuello Sports Complex.
April 26 at 3:00 P.M. is the Drum and Bugle Corps Showdown at the old Central I grounds in Rizal Avenue. At 8:00 P.M. is a Street Party in front of the post office, sponsored by San Miguel Beer Corporation.
On April 27 at ll:00 P.M. is a Gay Basketball Exhibition at the city gym. Gabi ng mga Negosyante comes night of this date at 8:00 P.M. at the Arenas-Resuello Sports Complex. Businessmen who faithfully invest in the city and pay their taxes accordingly, help boost the city’s economy.
April 28 at 1:P.M. is a Street Dancing Competition at the old Central I grounds. Night of this date, at 8:00 P.M., is the highlight of the festival which is the City Fiesta Grand Ball and the Coronation of the Miss San Carlos City 2012 who will be joined by her court. The actual beauty pageant is on April 14 at 8:00 P.M., the venue being the Arenas-Resuello Sports Complex which is also where the coronation and ball will be held.
